U11 Football v St Paul’s
On Friday 24 April, Warwick Prep’s U11 football team completed the Central Warwickshire Primary Schools League group stage in style with a commanding 3–0 victory over St Paul’s, securing top place in the group and completing an unbeaten campaign.
We started on the front foot, creating several clear chances in the opening half but going into the break level. The breakthrough early in the second half proved decisive, allowing the team to press higher, control possession and show composure in front of goal as two further strikes followed to seal a well-deserved win.
The victory completed an excellent group stage, which included wins over Telford, Coten End, Sydenham and St Pauls, alongside a hardâfought draw against Brookhurst. A 3–2 win against Coten End and a dominant 3–0 victory over last season’s champions, Sydenham – who were also top of the league at the time – highlighted clear progress in organisation, resilience and game management.
Across the season, players have shown outstanding commitment, teamwork and pride in representing the school, alongside clear development in confidence and competitive understanding.
Beyond the league, their progress has been clear: the U11s have enjoyed a standout run in the U12 National Cup while two Warwick Prep teams have reached the U11 County Cup semi-finals—one an U10 side playing an age group up.
With a strong group stage completed, focus now turns to two County Cup semiâfinals and the League Championship playâoffs.
U11 Cricket v RGS The Grange
The U11 cricket teams travelled to RGS The Grange on a very sunny afternoon on Wednesday 29 April. It was excellent to have so many teams out with nearly the whole year group participating in a competitive cricket fixture. Amazing work everyone! There were some very closely contested matches, being won or lost by 1 or 2 runs. The teams were well-matched and demonstrated some of the skills they have been working on in lessons and club sessions well. It was a great afternoon with so many pupils out playing cricket. Well done everyone!
U9/U11 Swimming Gala v Bluecoat
It was a fantastic challenge in the pool on Thursday 30 April for our swimmers. Our Year 4 swimmers faced their first round of 50m swims representing the school and our Year 6 swimmers faced some very tough competition. It was a great opportunity to see the Year 4 girls rise to the challenge of double the distance and show off their tumble turns. The Year 6 girls fought hard for their placings and showed off their speed. Well done girls.
Sports Stars of the Week
Each week during games lessons, PE staff will identify one child from each year group to receive the Sports Star of the Week award. These will be announced in the following week’s games lesson, displayed on the sports noticeboard and publicised in Squirrel News.
