U11 Hockey Tournament at Repton
On Saturday 4 October, the Warwick Prep U11 hockey team attended a hockey tournament at Repton. After concerns that the weather might force the tournament to be called off, the day turned out to be bright and sunny. Our U11 girls rose to the occasion, showcasing fantastic skill, teamwork and determination throughout the day.
The tournament kicked off with a strong performance against The Elms, where the girls won 3-0. Next up was a tightly contested match against hosts Repton, which ended in a hard-fought 0-0 draw. Building on their momentum, the team then faced Spratton Hall and won 2-0.
The girls narrowly lost 2-1 to Bromsgrove. This result left them tied on points and goal difference with Repton. The girls displayed impressive composure and skill under pressure, ultimately winning the shuffles to get them into the 3rd/4th place play-off against Ratcliffe. The girls won 2-1, finishing the tournament in third place overall.

IAPS U11 Football Tournament
On Monday 6 October, Warwick Prep represented the school superbly at the IAPS U11 Football Tournament, producing a series of impressive performances against strong opposition. The team opened with a 2–1 win over North London Collegiate School and continued to play with confidence throughout the group stage, also securing victories against Bute House (1–0), The Marist School (2–0), and St George’s School (3–0).
Despite a narrow 1–0 defeat to Berkhamsted after conceding late on the counterattack, Warwick Prep finished second in their group to qualify for the Cup competition. In the semi-final, the team faced hosts Westbrook Hay and, despite their best efforts, were beaten 4–0 by an excellent side. They then played Stormont School in the 3rd/4th place play-off, losing 3–0 after running out of energy towards the end of a demanding day.
It was a strong overall performance from the squad, who showed teamwork, determination, and great spirit throughout the tournament — finishing 4th overall and just missing out on national qualification.
U8/U9/U10/U11 Swimming Gala v Warwick Junior School and The Kingsley School
Monday 6 October marked the first school swimming gala for some of the Year 3 girls. They had some fantastic placings and demonstrations of excellent speed and technique. They showed great resilience and perseverance when the goggles came loose! The girls really focussed on their technique at speed and not just speed without technique. There were some very close races between friends and yet it was a pleasure to see so many smiling faces and children supporting each other. The volume in the pool set the bar for the year, and we look forward to raising the bar next time. Thank you to those who came to support the gala. It was much appreciated.
U11 Football v Grace Academy Coventry (ESFA Round 1)
On Wednesday 8 October, the U11 football team produced a determined and hardworking performance to earn a 2–1 victory away at Grace Academy Coventry in the first round of the English Schools’ U12 Cup. After conceding an early goal, the players showed great teamwork and resilience, competing for every ball and supporting one another throughout.
A well-taken equaliser before half-time and a decisive second goal in the second half secured a hard-fought and deserved win. The team were delighted with the result which reflected their focus, persistence, and positive attitude on the pitch.
Sports Stars of the Week
Each week during games lessons, PE staff will identify one child from each year group to receive the Sports Star of the Week award. These will be announced in the following week’s games lesson, displayed on the sports noticeboard and publicised in Squirrel News.

• Year 3: Wanqing for being very enthusiastic in game play, covering lots of the pitch and scoring so many goals!
• Year 4: Ciara for focus, effort, and improving technique in carrying, passing and protecting the ball
• Year 5: India for her consistent hard work
• Year 6: Amy for doing well in her hockey lesson. Great understanding of carrying the ball into space and fantastic work rate
