U9/U10/U11/U13/U15/U13 Gymnastics Nationals
Our gymnastics teams from Warwick Prep and King’s High joined on Sunday 9 November to compete in the Independent Schools Gymnastics National Competition. Our pupils competed against over 500 girls and received excellent results. For some of our girls this was their first ever competition for school.
Our U9 team placed 10th overall. Highlights from this team was Teddy placing 14th on vault out of 55 pupils. Our U10 team placed 6th as a team. Highlights include India placing 17th overall, Willow and India placing joint 17th on floor and Lily placing 15th on vault. Our U11 team placed 8th overall. Highlights include Lydia placing 15th on vault, Chloe placing 1st on vault, 3rd on floor and 1st overall. This was a tremendous achievement from all of our girls and we look forward to their next competitions in February.
U11 Hockey v Manor Prep
On Wednesday 12 November, five of our U11 teams travelled to play against The Manor Prep. The rain held off and the girls all showed exceptional enthusiasm, resulting in four wins and a draw. Well done to all the girls who played and thank you to those parents who came to support.
U8 Hockey v Bablake & Crackley Hall
On Thursday 13 November, we took two U8 teams to play in some friendly matches against Bablake and Crackley Hall. The girls’ target was to dribble into space and to keep structure. They did brilliantly and the PE teams are very proud of the progress they made. Thank you to all spectators who came to support.
Sports Stars of the Week
Each week during games lessons, PE staff will identify one child from each year group to receive the Sports Star of the Week award. These will be announced in the following week’s games lesson, displayed on the sports noticeboard and publicised in Squirrel News.
Congratulations to this week’s Sports Stars of the Week:
• Year 3: Ava for her brilliant defending skills in a hockey fixture on Thursday
• Year 4: Freya for showing good control of the ball when moving around a defender
• Year 5: India for showing outstanding enthusiasm and commitment, with fast, dynamic ball-carrying towards goal throughout the lesson
• Year 6: Amy for working with great determination and excellent pacing in the 10 minute run in her Games lesson
