U11 IAPS Hockey Qualifiers
The U11 hockey squad competed at the regional IAPS hockey qualifiers on Friday 10 October. The girls came 1st in their pool winning 2-0 to King Edward’s, winning 1-0 to The Elms, winning 1-0 to King’s College and drawing 1-1 to The Downs. This put them through into the knockout stage where they faced Bromsgrove in the quarter final and won 1-0.
Next was the semi-final where the score was 1-1 after 5 minutes of extra time. The game then went to penalty flicks where we unfortunately lost out to Richard Pate who were the eventual winners of the tournament.
The next game for the girls was the 3rd and 4th playoffs where Warwick Prep beat Bilton Grange to take 3rd place overall. We are very proud of the girls’ performance. A big thank you to the parents who were able to come and support.
ESSKIA England Schools Team Finals & Open Event
On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 October, Trixie and Effie represented Warwick Prep at the ESSKIA England Schools Cat 1 Finals. They skied brilliantly in their first race in the Age Finals event with both skiers holding their composure. Effie was delighted to finish 13th out of 40 Cat 1 girls and the team finished 6th out of 10 schools. Well done, girls!
U11 Hockey v The Blue Coat School
On Wednesday 15 October, two of our U11 teams visited The Blue Coat School for hockey fixtures. The first team to play showed excellent transition between attacking and defending, as well as supporting each other well on the pitch. The game was very evenly matched, and the final score was 2-1 to Blue Coat. The second team to play also impressed with the way they put into practice all that we have been working on in Games lessons and at Hockey Club. The final score was 2-0 to Warwick Prep. Well done to all the girls who played.
Sports Stars of the Week
Each week during games lessons, PE staff will identify one child from each year group to receive the Sports Star of the Week award. These will be announced in the following week’s games lesson, displayed on the sports noticeboard and publicised in Squirrel News.
