U8/U9 Swimming Gala v Bluecoat
It was wonderful to see so many of our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils competing in a swimming gala on Thursday 21 May. For some of them this was their first competitive gala. All pupils raced in relays and gave their very best both in the pool and cheering on the side. There were some dubious change overs in the all important big float relay at the end with several shouts for VAR to be used, but the girls should be very proud of their emphatic victory by nearly 100m points overall.
U8ABC Cricket v Bluecoat School
On Monday 18 May, our U8ABC teams played cricket against Bluecoat School. Bluecoat started to bat and achieved a first innings score of 125 runs. There was some steady fielding against some strong batters. Warwick Prep then went into bat, with some strong performances by Imelda and Francesca helping the team reach a total of 145 runs.
We managed to squeeze in another short innings, where Warwick Prep were much tighter with their fielding and did an excellent job of preventing runs. The game finished with a win for Warwick Prep, 190–158 runs. Well done, everyone!
U10/U11 Tennis v Bromsgrove
On Saturday 16 May, Bromsgrove travelled to Warwick Prep for a morning of tennis doubles. Six Warwick Prep pairs impressed with their excellent serving and powerful shots. Out of all eighteen games played on the morning, Warwick Prep won sixteen, making them the overall winners. Well done to all the girls who were involved and thank you to the parents who showed their support on the sideline.
U11 IAPS Cricket Festival
Well done to all the girls who took part in the IAPS Cricket Festival at The Elms on Friday 15 May. The team played three different schools over the afternoon and won all of their games. The girls’ batting and quick decision-making led to them scoring large amounts of runs throughout the festival. Their bowling also improved as the afternoon went on. Thank you to all the spectators who came to show their support for the team.
Sports Stars of the Week
Each week during games lessons, PE staff will identify one child from each year group to receive the Sports Star of the Week award. These will be announced in the following week’s games lesson, displayed on the sports noticeboard and publicised in Squirrel News.
