U11ABCDE Hockey v Bromsgrove School
On Wednesday 24 September, five U11 teams visited Bromsgrove School for an exciting afternoon of hockey. Every player showed great grit and determination, working hard to apply the skills they have been focusing on during Games lessons.
The U11A team faced a very strong Bromsgrove side and narrowly lost 2-3. The B team fought hard but were beaten 0-6. Meanwhile, the C team secured a well-earned 1-0 victory, showing strong teamwork and resilience. The D team secured a fantastic 7-0 win, and the E team also performed impressively, winning 4-0.
Well done to everyone who played for their effort and commitment. A big thank you to all the parents who were able to come along to support.
U9ABCD Hockey v Bromsgrove School
On Thursday 25 September, a selection of our Year 4 girls welcomed pupils from Bromsgrove School for their first fixture of the year. With four Warwick Prep teams taking on four Bromsgrove teams in a series of short, fast-paced 8-minute games, there was plenty of exciting hockey on display.
All teams impressed with their excellent spatial awareness and thoughtful decision-making on the ball, clear evidence of their hard work in lessons. Every game was either won or drawn, with no losses for Warwick Prep – a fantastic achievement and a brilliant way to start the term.
We are excited about the future of these young hockey players and look forward to seeing their continued progress. A big thank you to all the parents who came to support. It made the occasion even more special for the girls.
U11/U10/U9/U8 Swimming Gala v Bluecoat
Our Warwick Prep swimmers joined Warwick Junior School to form a Foundation team against Bluecoat. Our Year 4 team held their own in the most incredible medley relay. Well done to Annie, Freya, Isla and Teddy.
The Year 5 team showed they are ready for their new 50m distances this year. Well done to Effie, Emma, Kristjana and Lily.
Our Year 6 team led the way with team encouragement, cheering on the whole team and showing fantastic role model behaviour to the younger girls. Well done Bea, Dylan, Ella and Ottie.
Sports Stars of the Week
Each week during games lessons, PE staff will identify one child from each year group to receive the Sports Star of the Week award. These will be announced in the following week’s games lesson, displayed on the sports noticeboard and publicised in Squirrel News.
Congratulations to this week’s Sports Stars of the Week:
• Year 3: Maanya for good ball carrying and listening
• Year 4: Eva for showing hard work and determination in her Games lesson
• Year 5: Annabel B for her game play and positive attitude throughout
• Year 6: Avery for being very keen to get involved in every aspect of game play, covering lots of ground and being instrumental in some of the successful attacking play
