IAPS Tennis Nationals
On Monday 16 June, four Warwick Prep girls travelled to Bristol to take part in the IAPS National Tennis Competition for the first time. The event was split into divisions and all four pupils competed in both singles and doubles matches.
The A pair, Isabella and Liberty, had some great match-ups and played fantastic tennis, finishing as winners of their division. The B pair, Laurel and Bronte, also held their nerve through several close matches. Laurel made an impressive comeback from 1–3 down to win one of her singles games and the pair went on to win their division.
Well done to the whole team!
U11 Warwick Prep Tennis Tournament
On Saturday 21 June, Warwick Prep hosted the U11 mixed doubles tennis tournament, with four groups competing in a round-robin format on a very hot morning. Warwick Prep girls were paired with boys from Warwick Junior School and played some fabulous tennis, showing great improvement throughout the morning in a series of competitive matches.
Congratulations to Bronte and her partner, Finn, for winning Group B; to Alice and her partner, Vishnu, who were runners-up in Group C; and to Lottie and her partner, Josh, who were runners-up in Group D.
It was lovely to see so many pupils enjoying tennis on both the hard and Astro courts.
U10ABCDE Cricket v Bluecoat
On Monday 23 June, the Year 5 pupils enjoyed a fantastic opportunity to take part in a whole-year cricket fixture. It was excellent to see so many pupils out on the field, competing in a series of lively matches. Despite the windy conditions, all teams bowled impressively and followed up with some outstanding batting.
Well done to everyone who took part!
U9ABCDE Cricket v Bluecoat
On Tuesday 24 June, the U9s played their very first fixture against Bluecoat. The whole year group took part and it was fantastic to see their newly learnt skills in action during the games.
Middle and Upper School Sports Day
On Wednesday 25 June, pupils from Middle and Upper School took part in their Sports Day. The girls competed in a range of track events including sprint races, 400m races and baton relays, as well as field events including javelin and throwing. Well done to everyone taking part, especially in the very hot weather!
Sports Stars of the Week
Each week during games lessons, PE staff will identify one child from each year group to receive the Sports Star of the Week award. These will be announced in the following week’s games lesson, displayed on the sports noticeboard and publicised in Squirrel News.
