U11 Midlands Hockey Finals
On Wednesday 26 March, the Warwick Prep girls travelled to Nottingham Hockey Centre full of optimism to compete in the regional finals. They had done really well to qualify from a strong county.
Their first two games were tough against Kings Hawford and Radcliffe College. Despite dominating early exchanges and having multiple chances, they lost by an odd goal. The group stages finished with two wins, three losses and a draw, meaning they didn’t qualify for the semi-finals but still secured a very credible top-ten finish in the Midlands region.
U8ABCDE Netball
On Thursday 27 March, the U8 netball teams played their first block fixture on a very sunny afternoon. The teams were excited to get out and showcase what they have been learning in their games lessons and club sessions. It was a great opportunity for everyone to have a go at different positions during a competitive match play situation and practise their skills under pressure against strong Bluecoat sides. It was excellent to see so many of our U8 girls playing in a fixture. Well done, everyone!
Sports Stars of the Week
Each week during games lessons, PE staff will identify one child from each year group to receive the Sports Star of the Week award. These will be announced in the following week’s games lesson, displayed on the sports noticeboard and publicised in Squirrel News.
Congratulations to this week’s Sports Stars of the Week:
• Year 3: Laurel for excellent batting and bowling in cricket
• Year 4: Sophie H for excellent throwing and catching in our cricket session
• Year 5: Louisa for excellent leadership in house netball leading the warm up and making good coaching decisions to help her team
• Year 6: Seren for excellent bowling in cricket and showing great enthusiasm throughout the lesson
