U11 Cricket v Bromsgrove
All the Year 6 girls took part in a cricket fixture on Wednesday 3 June. Six teams travelled to Bromsgrove to play in some hard-fought and enjoyable softball matches. A further two teams remained at Warwick Prep and welcomed two Bromsgrove teams for some excellent games focussing on using new skills learnt in lessons. Well done to all the girls involved!
U9/U10/U11/U12/U13/U14 Swimming Gala v Edgbaston High School for Girls
On Tuesday 2 June, nearly one-hundred girls competed in the swimming pool at our annual clash against Edgbaston. Known for its competitiveness and fun, this year we expanded the age groups invited to include Prep aged children. The races were tight and our Year 4 girls were dominant and set the standard for each age group.
The exciting gala was topped off with the highly anticipated return of ‘Big Splash / Little Splash’. All children from both schools were given the opportunity to perform a big or little splash. From each heat, a student was selected as a winner and qualified for the next round. All Edgbaston students performed against one another to select a finalist and the same occurred for our girls. This also meant the children may not have been the same age group and yet earned their spot and represented their school in the final. Teddy had a fantastic performance in the Lilttle Splash category but lost out in the final and Gabrielle won the Big Splash competition. Well done to all who took part.
U10 Cricket v Solihull Prep
On Monday 1 June, all girls in Year 5 took part in a cricket fixture against Solihull Prep. There was excellent effort and encouragement across all four teams. It was a great opportunity for a challenging, competitive fixture for all ending in two wins and two losses for Warwick Prep. Well done to all the girls who played! Thank you to all the spectators who showed their support.
Sports Stars of the Week
Each week during games lessons, PE staff will identify one child from each year group to receive the Sports Star of the Week award. These will be announced in the following week’s games lesson, displayed on the sports noticeboard and publicised in Squirrel News.
