Tennis County Cup Success
Congratulations to Kimi, in Year 3, who was part of the Warwickshire 9U County Cup team this weekend who were victorious in their division and have now secured themselves a place at the National Finals. Kimi won all of her five singles and doubles matches. Well done Kimi!
U9 ISGA Girls 5-Piece Challenge Cup, Tormead School
We are so proud of our Year 4 girls who performed five pieces for the first time in the Independent Schools Gymnastics Association National Championships on Saturday 28 February. This comprises of a group routine, an individual floor on 12x12m square, a set routine, a set handspring flat back vault and choice vault. This is a huge event for the girls and tests grit and resilience. Our girls rose to the challenge and performed beautifully. Hattie placed 28th, Margo 43rd, Teddy 44th, Ophelia 46th and Sophie placed 61st out of 68 girls. Congratulations!
National Prep Schools’ Cross Country Championships
Well done to Hattie, Ellie and Stella who competed in the National Prep Schools’ Cross Country Championships on Sunday 1 March against over 200 girls from prep schools across the country. The Prep girls showed fantastic stamina whilst running the 2.8km course at the foot of the Malvern Hills. The course was a tough one with many steep sections but all three girls displayed fantastic resilience. The girls should be immensely proud of their achievements. Thank you to the parents who came to support.
U11 ISGA 5 piece Gymnastics, Tormead School
Our U11 gymnastics team performed incredibly well in the U11 ISGA 5-piece competition at Tormead School. This competition is made up of numerous floor and vault events and tests our girls on numerous levels. We are so proud of how well they performed. Chloe received the 5th highest score on her set floor and the highest mark on her choice vault. Lola finished 42nd, Bronte finished 39th, Bea finished 38th and Chloe finished 8th out of 64 girls. Huge congratulations to girls!
U10/U11 IAPS Swimming Qualifiers
On Monday 2 March, we hosted one of the regional rounds of the IAPS swimming qualifiers. Nine schools attended with over 150 children in attendance. The Prep girls, alongside Warwick Junior School boys, sprinted through the pool in various events hoping to earn themselves a spot at the IAPS National swimming finals in June. The girls put in some good times which will be sent to the organisers. We will find out the results shortly.
U11ABC Netball v Manor Prep
On Wednesday 4 March, the U11A team had a closely contested fixture against a well-matched Manor Prep side. The game went goal for goal for the whole game with some great match-ups all over the court. Unfortunately, Prep was on the wrong side of the result with a close 7-8 loss. It was a great effort from the team but not quite enough to get over the line. Well done all!
The U11B team had a great game with strong defence from everyone and always looking to create space. After a bit of a slow start from both teams, Prep pulled away slightly and kept the lead, finishing 4-2. There was super teamwork and encouragement from everyone. Well played, girls.
The U11C team had a fantastic match against a strong Manor Prep side. The team showed great teamwork and excellent passing throughout the court. It was a great team performance with Prep coming away with an 8-4 win. Well done to all players for their positive attitude and determination throughout the match!
Sports Stars of the Week
Each week during games lessons, PE staff will identify one child from each year group to receive the Sports Star of the Week award. These will be announced in the following week’s games lesson, displayed on the sports noticeboard and publicised in Squirrel News.
