U9 Hockey v Bablake
On Tuesday 4 November, two U9 teams travelled to Coventry to play against Bablake Junior School. Despite the rainy weather, the girls showed fantastic determination and resilience on the pitch. The girls played some lovely hockey, focusing on keeping to their positions and supporting one another throughout the game. One team came away with an impressive 7–1 win, while the other fought hard in a closely contested 3–1 loss. The PE staff were very proud of the girls’ effort and sportsmanship. A big thank you to all the spectators who came along to cheer the teams on in the rain!
U11 Football v Lutterworth College – ESFA U12 Cup Round 2
On Wednesday 5 November, the U11 football team reached the third round of the English Schools’ U12 Cup following a hard-fought victory away at Lutterworth College. After conceding early, the players showed superb character to regroup, dominate long periods and finish some brilliant attacking moves.
Both of our goalkeepers made crucial saves, and every player worked tirelessly on a demanding pitch. With the match level at 3–3 after full time, extra time brought more end-to-end football, with Prep carving out the clearer chances.
This is a positive step forward and the furthest the school has progressed in this national competition, especially as we are playing a year up. After a tremendous squad effort, the tie was settled on penalties, with Prep holding their nerve to secure a 4–2 win. A fantastic achievement!
U10CD Hockey v Oxford Hawks
On Thursday 6 November, two U10 hockey teams travelled to Oxford to take on Oxford High for friendly matches. The girls focussed on using the full width of the pitch and finding space ahead of play to support their teammates. The PE staff were very impressed with the way the girls listened carefully to feedback and immediately worked hard to put it into practice. Well done to all involved!
Sports Stars of the Week
Each week during games lessons, PE staff will identify one child from each year group to receive the Sports Star of the Week award. These will be announced in the following week’s games lesson, displayed on the sports noticeboard and publicised in Squirrel News.

• Year 3: Sofia for consistently finding space to offer strong passing options and showing growing control and confidence when carrying the ball to drive forward and attack effectively
• Year 4: Sophie for showing great stamina over a long-distance run
• Year 5: Lucy for showing great determination during a hockey fixture
• Year 6: Lois for great work rate and understanding of the concept of using space to be an option for the ball carrier
