U11 Girls Football – ISFA x GSA Football Festival
Warwick Prep’s U10 girls produced an outstanding display of determination, resilience, and teamwork at the ISFA x GSA U11 Football Festival on Wednesday 6 May, competing a year above their age group against some of the strongest independent school teams in the country.
The squad competed in a demanding Group B against Channing Junior School (North London), ESMS Edinburgh, Bedford Girls’ School and Berkhamsted School, remaining difficult to break down and showing growing confidence with every game.
The girls opened the tournament with an excellent 0–0 draw against Channing Junior School, who would later go on to win the Cup competition. A narrow 1–0 loss against ESMS Edinburgh followed, before the team secured a deserved 1–0 victory over Berkhamsted School. A disciplined defensive display and another hard-earned 0–0 draw against Bedford Girls’ School ensured Warwick Prep qualified for the Cup competition against the strongest teams at the festival.
Competing against older opposition throughout the day, the girls continued to show outstanding spirit in the Cup stage. They pushed ESMS Edinburgh and Northampton High School closely in narrow contests before producing an excellent 2–0 win against St Mary’s School Cambridge. The final fixture against eventual finalists Channing Junior School proved a particularly difficult challenge, with Warwick Prep reduced to six players after losing both goalkeepers to injury earlier in the day. Despite the circumstances, the girls continued to battle bravely and showed tremendous resilience until the final whistle.
Across the festival, the girls demonstrated excellent organisation, resilience, and togetherness, while growing in confidence and understanding with every match. As an U10 group preparing for the upcoming ISFA Regional Competition, the experience of competing against older players in such a high-level environment will prove invaluable.
Most importantly, the team showed great commitment to one another, represented Warwick Prep with pride, and continued to demonstrate the exciting progress being made within girls’ football at the school.
U11C Cricket v Solihull
On Wednesday 6 May, the U11 C team had a great afternoon of cricket away at Solihull. After some solid batting to open, the team then went into field. With some good batting from Solihull, Prep unfortunately lost out by thirty runs. It was an excellent experience for all the girls with another opportunity to practise their cricket skills in a competitive match situation. Well done all!
U11EF Cricket v Crackley Hall
On Wednesday 6 May, the U11s had a great opportunity to continue developing their cricket skills against Crackley Hall. Both teams played with enthusiasm and showed lovely teamwork throughout. There was lots of improvement across the matches, particularly in bowling technique, while the girls also grew in confidence when running between the wickets as the games progressed. The teams came away with one win and one loss, and all of the girls should be very proud of their efforts. Well done, everyone!
