At Warwick Prep School, we understand the importance of enriching education through outdoor learning in our Forest School.
Led by our dedicated Forest School Leader, pupils are encouraged to cultivate a love for the outdoors by exploring, investigating and learning through play and practical activities. These hands-on experiences nurture confidence, resilience, independence and curiosity.
Our Forest School is located on the Warwick Schools Foundation campus, just a short walk from Warwick Prep.
This dedicated outdoor area provides a wonderful setting for learning beyond the classroom and is complemented by our newly opened Outdoor Classroom which offers a sheltered, purposeful space for creative learning in all weathers.
Children in The Squirrels Nursery and Reception enjoy weekly Forest School sessions and pupils in Year One have twice termly sessions throughout the year. Pupils in Year 1 are also invited to attend Forest School Club while children in other year groups usually have opportunities to visit Forest School during the year as part of their curriculum learning.
During Forest School sessions, pupils take part in a wide variety of activities, including:

- Pond dipping, investigating pond life such as newts and tadpoles
- Den building and imaginative play in the mud kitchen
- Looking for seasonal signs of nature, including changes in weather and wildlife, and learning how to observe and discuss what they see
- Exploring and experimenting with tools and natural materials to develop creativity, problem-solving and practical skills
