Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care

Above all else, Warwick Prep is a nurturing environment and the school’s ethos is naturally warm-hearted, supportive and inclusive.

The children thrive and flourish because they know that they are looked after and given the individual help that they need.

Form teachers play a pivotal role in nurturing each child’s academic and personal development, but the Head of Pre-Prep and Head of Prep provide essential strategic oversight and continuity as pupils transition through our school. With a comprehensive view of curriculum progression, pastoral care and individual wellbeing, they are exceptionally well-placed to monitor and support each child’s overall journey. They work collaboratively with teachers, parents and support staff to identify emerging needs early and to ensure that every pupil flourishes. Should children require targeted additional learning support, this is delivered by a specialist team of teaching professionals through tailored one-to-one or small-group interventions, which are guided by assessments. We greatly value the involvement of parents throughout their child’s time at the school and very much wish to develop a sense of partnership between home and school.

There are times when children need additional expert help from a trained counsellor. Our Counsellor, Helen Webb, works alongside our Head of Pre-Prep and Head of Prep offering her support to individuals, meeting with them on a weekly basis.

Wellbeing encompasses all that we do at Warwick Prep.

We believe it is vital that, alongside striving to be the best that they can be, Warwick Prep pupils also develop the skills and gain the experience needed to enable them to thrive and flourish in their everyday lives, whilst at school and beyond. We want all of our children to be happy, healthy, capable and engaged and our aim is to support them as they navigate today’s society and the challenges it presents.

We also have a pupil body known as the Wellbeing Team whose role is to help promote a safe, and kind school community, lead the schools antibullying campaign, promote digital wellbeing, and to have an all-encompassing approach to support pupils’ social, emotional, physical and mental health.

We do offer a parent library where parents are able to borrow books on a variety of difficult subjects such as bereavement, terminal illness, self-harm, eating disorders and online safety.

Pupils are encouraged to take part in sport, music, drama and our wide range of extra-curricular clubs. The opportunity to sample an assortment of experiences not only helps our children gain a wider understanding of the world around them but helps to boost self-esteem and confidence.
