Fair Rules
The Fair Rules have been developed collaboratively through pupil and staff voice and reflect the values that sit at the heart of life at Warwick Prep. They help children understand what is expected of them and encourage positive relationships, a strong work ethic and excellent behaviour.
Our Fair Rules are unique to Warwick Prep and underpin our approach to learning and wellbeing:
- We are kind and respectful
- We are honest and truthful
- We share, take turns and play fairly
- We are positive and try our best
- We listen carefully and respectfully share our ideas
- We are polite and always remember our manners
To reinforce these values, Fair Rules acorns are displayed around the school as visual reminders. Children are recognised for demonstrating the Fair Rules through the award of acorn stickers, each linked to the specific rule they have followed. This positive reinforcement helps embed our shared values into everyday school life.
Positive communication is an important part of daily school life. Pupils are expected to greet staff politely at the start and end of lessons and when being dismissed at the end of the school day. When greeted by staff around the school, pupils should acknowledge this with a friendly “hello,” “good morning” or “good afternoon.” We also encourage pupils to make eye contact when speaking and to use polite language, including “please” and “thank you.”
The Squirrel Standards have been developed collaboratively through pupil and staff voice and represent shared expectations that we all agree to follow:
- We keep ourselves and others safe
- We are prepared for the school day
- We look after school property and our belongings
- We keep our school environment tidy
- We wear our school uniform with pride
- We hold the door open for each other
- We walk quietly and calmly on the left around school
- We line up sensibly at the end of break and lunchtime
- We enter and exit assembly in silence
- We speak quietly in the dining room
house points
We have a long history of house competitions and events at Warwick Prep for our four houses; Dudley, Greville, Rich and Beaumont (named after the four families that have lived at Warwick Castle). We have a House Point Board and ‘collection boxes’ where, as pupils receive house point tokens, they can be dropped straight into these collection boxes. Points are awarded by staff for hard work in class, good manners, kindness to fellow pupils and generally following the Fair Rules and Squirrel Standards.
At the end of each week, the winning house is announced in assembly and a cup is presented to the House Captain. At the end of each term, the overall winners are presented with the termly cup and all the children in the winning house receive a treat.
Each term, new House Captains and Deputy House Captains are selected from our Year 6 girls, and their responsibilities include selling raffle tickets, helping to organise House charity initiatives and rallying around to create a sense of House camaraderie. A House Representative from Year 2 is also selected to assist in some duties.
